Advancing autonomous vehicle development

Vehicle Platforms for Advanced Learning and Real-World Applications

At Dataspeed, we’re pushing the boundaries of autonomous vehicle development with a unique project of Ford F-150 Raptors. Working closely with our customer, we provided the foundation for autonomous capabilities by equipping these rugged off-road vehicles with our next-generation Drive By-Wire kit. Engineered for durability and precision, the system enables full control of critical vehicle functions while withstanding the toughest environments. After outfitting the Raptors with advanced autonomy features, they will serve as the platform for further research and innovation in autonomous off-road technology.

Dataspeed's Impact on Miltary Applications

Driving Innovation in DOD with Autonomous Solutions

For this project, Dataspeed focused on not only the technical advancements but also the visual impact of the vehicles. To achieve a bold, military-inspired aesthetic, Dataspeed partnered with Penske Vehicle Services to give the Ford F-150 Raptors a striking appearance. Penske applied a Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) in tan, reminiscent of the iconic finish found on classic Humvee vehicles, adding a layer of toughness to match the Raptors’ off-road capabilities.

Once Penske completed their flawless paint job, the Dataspeed team took over to enhance the vehicle’s rugged look. The metal components, including the wheels and a custom toolbox mounted in the trunk, were powder-coated in the same tan color for a cohesive finish. Additionally, the running boards and bed liner were treated with LineX spray, further reinforcing the vehicles’ tough, military-grade appearance and ensuring durability in the harshest conditions. The result is a set of Raptors that are not only technologically advanced but visually ready for anything the off-road environment can throw at them.
